He Knew No Sin

Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Even though Jesus never sinned doesn’t mean He didn’t ever make a mistake. He was born a baby just like all men are born. And, even though He was born completely sinless, He still had to learn and grow and become the One who would take away the sins of the world. Just like everyone else does, Jesus made mistakes. He probably encountered problems as a young man that He didn’t know exactly how to fix. Things that He might have made a mistake on include His learning in carpentry skills and other necessary lessons. Whatever mistakes He made, though, He was undoubtedly the only One to feel the grace of God pouring out in His heart in such a way that He soon knew just what was expected of Him. The cross loomed in the distance and I’m sure He felt the weight of it before He ever carried it toward Golgotha.
In the same chapter of Luke where the above verse is found, there is the story of Jesus and His family journeying to Jerusalem for a feast. Mary and Joseph, expecting Jesus to always know that He should stay within the boundaries of His family, return toward home. They soon discover that Jesus is not with them and they probably are somewhat panicked. Afterall, they’ve lost – not just their son and not just any boy, but the Son of God. They are assuredly worried as they turn back in hopes of finding their Son. Finally, they found Jesus in the temple conversing with the teachers. He tells them that He must be about His Father’s business, implying that even at this young age He knew what was to come.
Still yet, Jesus had much to learn. His ministry didn’t begin until He was thirty years old, so God must have had much more to teach Him before He would go into the world healing, blessing and fulfilling the scriptures with His wonders, His wondrous, His wonderful. God’s grace was upon Him and I am sure He always knew what it is to be a part of the Kingdom to come. He certainly always knew that He was the light of the world, the gift to every spirit, the miracle that could cure any ill.
Jesus, with all His wisdom, taught us more in three short years than any other minister of the gospel could in his lifetime. Because God sent His Son, we never need doubt the hope, faith and love that make a way beyond this world, a way beyond death and the grave, a way into the Kingdom where He is the One that intercedes for us night and day. Thanks to the grace of God we can know the amazing ways that God has blessed us all with so much more than we could possibly pray for or thank Him for. Thanks to grace, we are blessed in such a way that only eternity offers us the opportunity to praise amply. Thanks to grace, there is a chance for our spirits to enter the Kingdom He created.
A Prayer & A Promise:
Dear Lord, I never want to fail You, though I know I have failed You so many times. When You walked in the same world I know, You never sinned. Unlike You, Lord, I sin in ways that discourage me from entering into a conversation with You because my shame is upon me and I can’t bare to know I’ve disappointed the One who died such a unbearable death, faced hell and came back again to show the whole world that evil cannot win. All this, for me – for us, the people You love. You, my Lord, assure me that You’ll always win against the darkness. You will always shine Your light down into the darkest of hearts and light up the shadows so they reflect the songs that abide where Your grace understood the potential for joy, the conceivable faith, the possible in the impossible. Because of You, Your love and grace, there is a second chance for everyone who comes to You with their broken and contrite spirit, the repentance that means they are forgiven. Because of You, Jesus, there is redemption. Thank You, Lord, for offering me grace and salvation. You are everything to me.
