for Brian Blankenship

For Brian Blankenship, a heart worth remembering

Stronger than I could imagine being,

Reminding me that love isn’t always agreeing –

But it is fiercer than a roaring lion,

Just like this man we all called Brian

His light fell gentle among the shadows,

Erasing the dark, embracing the One who rose –

Silencing the fears with His own tender tears,

He has a new life, now, meant for Jesus’ heirs

Faithful to the One whom he always clung,

He knew Him since he was so very young…

Recognized the joy that comes to life inside,

Grace that grows so certain it can’t be denied

Everyone who knew Brian, knew He was a light,

Reflecting Jesus’ promises, His amazing insight –

Into the spirit, the heart and the soul, the belief

Comforting even the worst darkness, however brief

There isn’t a soul who knew him on this earth

Who wasn’t touched by his kindness, He was worth –

More than words can describe or explain away,

He was more valuable than these verses can portray

Whatever happens, whatever sacrifices we make

There is the certainty that God won’t make a mistake –

When it was time to go, Brian was undeniably ready,

His relationship with Jesus had always been steady

Everyone down here will miss the preacher, the man,

But everyone in heaven is singing praises, for the lineman –

Who finally came to meet with the Savior of his soul,

Jesus, who invites every heart to be made whole!

Yes, we’ll miss him more than words could explain,

But there is no doubting, he’s with One who will reign –

Forever, through eternity, with love wiping away every tear,

Yes, we’ll miss him – but I’ve convinced there is no need to fear!

He’s with the Father now – He’s with Jesus, the Savior and Son,

He’s experiencing glory, now and that will never be outdone –

He’s filled with joy now – joy forevermore, joy on the other shore,

He’s with the Father now – He’s with the One who we’ll forever adore!

Brian Blankenship was a wonderful husband, father, son and pastor. He will be missed until we finally see him again.
